How is the co-op? I'm looking for a basebuilder to play with my gf and this game seems to tick all the boxes. My only concern is the performance issues that I've been hearing about, especially when you have more than 20 hearthlings. It seems like this problem will be compounded in multiplayer. The local coop just means you can play with a friend, but you would need to fiddle around with some files if you want trully offline lan game. #1 I cannot think of a way the coop multiplayer would work if you can only control what player A controls also. What I was thinking on how it could work would be similar to maybe DF + DayZ. You would start in an area with your settlers in a random location on the map or you can choose to start off next to your friends.

If you mean getting in multiplayer at all, then just create a multiplayer game in the main menu and invite your friends through Steam interface (shift+tab by default or use the buttons in the game's own multiplayer menu (the sign with a creepy hearthling shadow)) If you're not using Steam version, there's a guide here: Multiplayer without Steam?

So open question asked on the KS in regards to a coop mode in which two players share building a city. I though about this and think I could see a problem. While I like the idea of building a city with a friend unless we can divide the villagers up it could cause AI issues. Say my friend and I divide up some tasks, I take farming and he takes building a house.

Stonehearth is a game that's very sensitive to the latency that comes from physical distance between the computers running it, because it has to send a LOT of data back and forth (and wait for that data to come back), so the more latency that's introduced by sheer distance the longer everything takes.
